Passion
Recently I was watching a show with my parents and there was a portrait painter who was defending a portrait he thought was accurate. In a few words, he said that art wasn’t personal. I think that’s bullshit. At least for me, my art is an extension of myself. I pour my soul and feelings into it. It doesn’t matter if it’s abstract or realistic, every brush stroke was a decision, every piece a triumph or a learning moment. I can’t understand how someone could be so removed from their art.
I believe passion is what separates man from machine. That is why AI “art” can never replace the artist. It can “mimic” if that’s what you want to call it, but AI can’t experience conscious creation or the thrill of a new idea. It doesn’t understand the struggle to learn and better yourself. Art should be a work of the heart. That is why AI art is so upsetting to me. It’s a shortcut, and not even a good one because it runs on a great deal of stolen artwork. Anyway, that’s the end of today’s rant about AI “art”.
What makes you so special?
I’ve been examining why I wanted to start an art account and to sell my art. Why should people choose you and who is your audience? Can you tell I’ve been watching small business videos again? After some contemplation, I’d like to think that my art brings joy and whimsy. I try to keep up a collection of silly art such as my snails with guns as well as some more dramatic, fantastical, and visually interesting pieces like Prismatic Cypher.

I don’t have a degree in art or anything, but I enjoy creating art so much and I love watching people’s reactions to it. I love filling my pieces with details and symbols and letting the audience find their own meaning to it. My experiences and life and emotions influence my works so much and they definitely influence how people see and understand them.
A painting I did recently was “Star Crossed Lovers”. This painting is inspired by all kinds of love and features two arms holding on to each other. I was adding finishing touches at a live event, and an older gentleman came over and asked if the hands were a man and woman’s or two women’s. I told him that it didn’t matter, because it is up for the audience’s interpretation. I believe that the half the fun in art is seeking your own answers within the piece. It’s also interesting to learn about and strive to understand how the artist and audience’s background affect the creation and interpretation of the piece. Symbols and colors and shapes can have different meanings depending on culture and lifestyle and all the other little things that make us who we are.
